COACHING SERVICES

Coach Carmen has been coaching walkers for over 20 years and is a USATF Level 1, Safe Sport Certified Coach.
She has been a competitive walker since 1986, making the US 50k Women’s Racewalk Teams in 2015 and 2016.
As a former gymnast, her strength is functional movement, but she also has a Barefoot Training Specialist certificate from the Evidence Based Fitness Academy.

Race Walk 101 – Technique Basics

Race Walk 102 – How to Walk FAST

This 75-minute session covers the basics of track practice and includes a sample training plan which allows you to create your own workout schedule.  We start by reviewing your race walk technique. Next, we’ll cover track etiquette, the lane markings and go through a proper warm up.  Then we’ll learn about three different types of workouts that are geared to burn fat, build your endurance base and improve leg speed.  Lastly, we’ll learn pacing and a guide to determine your proper stride length for maximum efficiency.

Spring/Summer classes have been moved to an online format until it’s safe to resume group training.

E-Coaching

This is a great option for walkers living outside the Portland, Oregon area.  Choose from three options:  Race Walk 101, Functional Movement to help improve efficiency or a Monthly training plan.

Spring Training

Get Fit – Have Fun – Walk Fast!
Gather your walking buddies or relay team members for some structured workouts! This four week session is a fun and affordable way to help improve your race walk technique, speed, and efficiency. The spring session offer a review of the basics: technique, strength and flexibility, followed by drills and stretches to support your race walk form.

THIS SESSION WAS MOVED TO AN ONLINE FORMAT DUE TO COVID SHUT DOWN.

Cost: $40 for all four weeks.

 Summer Track Practice

Get Fit – Have Fun – Walk Fast!
Gather your walking buddies or relay team members for 12-weeks of speed workouts! Group training is a fun and affordable way to help improve your race walk technique, speed, and efficiency. Coach Carmen will guide you through a proper warm up before the track workout.  She’ll offer training tips and answer questions you have on form, equipment, race prep and race strategies.  You will also receive a written training plan.

THE SUMMER SESSION DUE TO BEGIN JUNE 2, 2020 IS POST-PONED UNTIL THE STAY-AT-HOME ORDER HAS BEEN LIFTED.  AN ONLINE TRAINING OPTION IS AVAILABLE NOW.
