Resole Your Reshod Walking Shoes

If you’ve ever struggled with throwing out worn shoes because the upper was still in good condition, we have great news!  Reshod Walking Shoes can be refurbished at your local shoe repair.  The die-cut and buff midsole construction has no molded parts, so when your heel wears down, you can restore it.  The 24 Iron Solflex material used in the heel section is very common in the shoe repair industry and should be easy to request.

The Red Reshod Training/Distance shoe has a 100% rubber outsole.

The entire outsole can be replaced, too.  Reshod uses a Vibram® Link 586K, but you can choose from an array of options based on your preferences.  If you want to try something lighter, ask to see the Vibram® Scooter 2070.  It’s a little thick, but it can be ground down a bit to suit you.  Another option is the Vibram® Newflex 8870.  Both are blown rubber outsoles, which are lighter than the 100% rubber Link 586.  However, they wear down much quicker, so you might want to save those for track use.  If you are planning to use your Reshod Walking Shoes on the trail, consider a Vibram® outsole that has a bigger lug pattern.  They have several to choose from, including the New York 2074 or the Fast Trail 009C.

While you’re at it, you may as well check out color options, too!  No one is stopping you from mixing it up.  Vibram® has many colors to choose from in most styles.

The only part of your shoe that cannot be refurbished is the toe section of the midsole.  When you take your shoes in to be renewed, be sure to tell them to avoid damaging this memory foam when removing the outsole.  They will need to heat-activate the shoe and gently peel back the outsole, or it will tear.

Resoling your shoes will cost less than half the price of a new pair.  If you live on the west side of Portland, Oregon, head to:
