Getting ready for a road race or relay event? Coach Carmen offers many training opportunities to get you started. If you don’t see a day or time that works for you, reach out to Coach Carmen to schedule one that is more convenient. Racewalk/Powerwalk 101 covers efficient technique designed to help you walk faster and avoid injuries.
The Racewalk 102 session teaches walkers the warm-up process for fast training sessions on the track. It includes warm-up stretches; walking drills an explanation of various speed workouts and cool down stretches.
If you’d like some ongoing training, we have weekly summer track practice that goes from June through August, including a 12-week training schedule. Fall training goes from September through October and focuses on strength training and range of motion exercises to improve your walking efficiency. Choose from two locations: Grant High School in NE Portland or Southridge High School in Beaverton, Oregon. If you miss the start of the session, you can do an abbreviated session or schedule a group session at a different location for your walking team. Sign up here:
